New Post: problems when using the netcdf4 to open a netcdf and read a variable whose dimension isn't 1

Thank for your work on netcdf4,

I succeed reading a variable whose dimension is 1.

For example:

int[] value = new int[3135];

int valueId;

nc_open(filePath, CreateMode.NC_NOWRITE, out p);

nc_inq_varid(p, checkedItems[i], out valueId);

nc_get_var_int(p, valueId, value);

But when using the netcdf4 to read a variable whose dimension isn't 1,unfortunately,I have no idea to read,could you please give me a hand?

dear I'm strongly to import netcdf in a software to work I have firt to add a variable

I succeed using ncdump to ascii and modify the ascii and with ncgen I recreate the file.

This is nice but I have thousand of file to modify. That why I look to the c#wrapper to do it.

but I m hnaging with this. basicaly I need to add a variable call "Peak_Height" as float with the dimention equal to the peak_number.

in the following ncdump I have added to make it work in the variable section:

float peak_heigth(peak_number) ;

if you have any idea and suggestio to make it with the warpper I ll be very happy.

my ncdump ascii info

dimensions:
   _2_byte_string = 2 ;
    peak_number = 58 ;
variables:
   float detector_maximum_value ;
   float detector_minimum_value ;
   float peak_retention_time(peak_number) ;
float peak_area(peak_number) ;
float peak_area_percent(peak_number) ;

Hi,

Good Day! I want to read some netCDF file in C# and I want to use "NetCDF library for .NET" for this purpose. But i am very new to C# programming. So, i don't know how to use this library. So, if any of you demostrate step by step procedure, that will be very very helpful for me.

The types are declared in Constants.cs. I've just added the file to the download section. Sorry for the inconvenience.

P.S. We no longer actively support this project, but you might also want to check sds.codeplex.com, which offers a higher level interface for different data sources, including NetCDF.

I appologize up front for not knowing the answer to this question. Seems as though it should be something very easy. I've downloaded the DotNetCdf.cs and tried to compile. What do I need to do for the compiler to recognize NcType and CreateMode? Are these classes that are defined in another library? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Most likely, you get this error because you are trying to use a J# version from 1.0 release. You should download the C# wrapper in C.1.0 release. You can use it with netcdf.dll C library provided by Unidata.

Hi,

For NetCDF4 a wrapper around C API would be a good solution. In fact we are using one in our recent projects. It's availble now in C.1.0 release.

Hi,

Are there any plans (or intent) to provide a .NET API based on the upcoming netCDF-4 java implementation? I am looking at options to read/write netCDF from a .NET based application. I am considering using IKVM, this project if possible, or even creating wrappers around the C/C++ APIs if needed.
Any advice/news would be welcome.

Using this library in C# is a bit tricky. You still need some of vjslib.dll, so you'll have to reference it in your project as well. The code will look like this:
